Joseph S. Forgione of Riverhead died on April 27, 2015. He was 80 years old.
He was born on June 22, 1934 in Manhattan. He married Rose (nee Caira) on April 28, 1956 in Bayside.
Forgione served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958. He went on to work as a patrolman for the New York Police Department and as an administrator with the United States Postal Service.
He was a member of the America Legion in Queens, the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, the North Fork Italian American Club and the Riverhead Council of the Knights of Columbus. A history buff as well as a movie buff, he enjoyed coin-collecting, baseball and critiquing movies.
Forgione is survived by his wife, Rose, of Riverhead; his children Joseph of Massapequa Park, Jana Kolsen of Garden City and John of East Setauket; his sister Dolores Dellapina as well as seven grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, April 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home. A service will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Isidore Church. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
