East End Disability Associates invites the public to a general information session about Office for People with Developmental Disabilities’ new Front Door initiative. Opening the door to a richer, fuller life – that’s the goal of OPWDD’s new Front Door – a person-centered approach for people with developmental disabilities that prioritizes individual choices, needs and desires in making decisions.

The new Front Door approach gives individuals who are seeking services for the first time or who are interested in modifying their current plans as many opportunities as possible to direct their own services.

This is a great opportunity for families on the East End to learn how to access services for their loved ones. Terri Finnegan, Sylvia Cooper and other OPWDD Family Support Services staff will be conducing this important workshop.

This session will provide you the opportunity to learn about:

What is the Front Door? What is the primary purpose and key elements?

How does the Front DooOPWDD’s transformational agenda?

What are the Front Door roles and responsibilities for OPWDD’s regional office and central office staff?

What are the similarities and differences between the new Front Door and the present system?

How does the Front Door impact on me and the menu of services that are available to me and my family?

The informational session will take place on June 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Cornell Cooperative Extension located at 423 Griffing Ave. Please RSVP as space is limited for this free event. For more information call Lynn at 631-369-7345 ext. 107 or email LynnP@eed-a.org.
