The Suffolk Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution presented the Riverhead Town Police Department with a check for the purchase of a bulletproof vest yesterday.

The presentation comes in the wake of the death of a New York Police Department officer Brian Moore, who was shot while on duty Saturday.

“These are difficult and dangerous times for police officers around our country,” the organization said in a press release yesterday.”We pray for the safety of all the officers, and that the vest will help provide that safety. To the men and women of the Riverhead Town police department: we respect you, we honor you and we thank you.”
