The operator of a landscaping truck was arrested after crashing into the center median on County Road 105 this morning, dumping the contents of the truck onto the roadway, just south of Route 25.

The truck, registered to a Mastic Beach landscaping company, appears to have swerved from the right lane of the northbound roadway and entered the center media, tipping sideways enough to spill a load of mulch all over the shoulder and one of the southbound lanes. The crash happened just before 11 a.m.

The truck was the subject of numerous complaints by motorists called in to Southampton and Riverhead police, from as far away as Hampton Bays.

“He was all over the roadway,” said an officer at the scene. One of the complaints was from a woman who said he ran her off the road on Route 24 in Flanders.

Police would not say what charges the man in custody would face.
