The woman hit by a pickup truck in the King Kullen parking lot Sunday afternoon succumbed to her injuries at Stony Brook University Hospital yesterday, a hospital spokesperson said this morning.

Martha Garcia, 51, of Hampton Bays, was struck by a 2015 Chevy Silverado pickup truck operated by Emily Hill, 43, of Riverhead, shortly before 1 p.m., according to Riverhead Town Police.

Garcia was treated at the scene and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She was subsequently airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County Police aviation due to the severity of her injuries, police said.

No summonses or violations were issued in the incident, according to police. “It seems like it was an unfortunate accident,” Riverhead Police Lt. David Lessard said.
