Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School is pleased to announce that award-winning jazz musician, Brandi Disterheft, will join select McGann-Mercy musicians at an exclusive performance as part of the cocktail hour/dinner reception for the school’s Annual Golf Classic to be held on Wednesday, June 24 at the Baiting Hollow Club.
Brandi Disterheft (Bassist, Vocalist & Composer) is considered one of the fastest rising stars in the jazz world. Born and raised in North Vancouver, Brandi has studied with Don Thompson, Rufus Reid and Ron Carter (former bassist for Miles Davis). Brandi makes her home in NYC but travels extensively on tours throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, opening for music greats such as Diana Krall, Chris Botti, and Dave Brubeck.
Brandi’s first recording, Debut, earned her a 2008 JUNO Award for Traditional Jazz Album. Her JUNO-nominated third album, Gratitude, features “Blues for Nelson Mandela,” which she played in a cameo performance in the hit show, Orange is in the New Black.
