An SUV took out an Aquebogue farm stand’s displays and then overturned on Main Road in a single-car accident at about 11:30 Saturday morning.
The driver of the SUV was not seriously injured. No one at the farm stand was hurt.
His Dodge Durango was westbound on Main Road when it left the roadway and crashed into flower pots and displays in front of the Wells Homestead farm stand. The Durango continued into a wooded area on the side of the road about 50 feet west of the farm stand and overturned.
Police called Riverhead Fire Department for a possible extrication, but the driver exited the vehicle on his own.
“I heard a big sound and thought, ‘Oh my God, something bad just happened,” said Brad Bocksel, who lives next door to the farm stand. “I came over to help out.”
Farm stand employee Janelle Carey said she and a coworker were standing in the area of the displays plowed down by the SUV just moments before the crash.
“Luckily no one was there when this happened,” she said.
The Durango drove into displays of about 25 pots and several barrels, the employee said.
Police said they are investigating the cause of the crash.
