East End Arts is proud to announce a special opportunity for student string players to participate in the East End Arts Student Orchestra’s fourth annual collaborative project with the prestigious Perlman Music Program. East End Arts is assembling a group of Long Island string students ages eight through 18 studying orchestral string instruments (violin, viola, cello, double bass) again this summer. Students will participate in an open rehearsal under the baton of world-famous, internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso and conductor Itzhak Perlman, alongside The Perlman Music Program String Orchestra in a free and open to the public rehearsal on Thursday, July 30, at 5:30 p.m. at a local venue to be announced. There are no auditions for this tuition-free program, although pre-registration by Friday, July 10 is required for participation.
Prior to the open rehearsal with Maestro Perlman at the end of July, a series of four rehearsals will take place at the East End Arts School located at 141 E. Main Street in Riverhead, on Mondays, July 13, 20, 27, from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a mandatory full rehearsal on Wednesday, July 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. The open rehearsal with Maestro Perlman will take place on Thursday, July 30, at 5:30 p.m. at a local venue to be announced, with a student call time of 4:00 p.m.. Violin, viola, cello, and double bass students ages eight through 18 wishing to participate must register in advance, by Friday, July 10, online or by contacting the East End Arts School at 631-369-2171 or by email.
