East End Arts is pleased to announce the next event in their Artisan Trunk Show series to take place on Saturday, June 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the East End Arts Gallery, featuring handmade glass jewelry artist Marjorie Oxman of Remsenburg. Marjorie Oxman creates earrings and necklaces made of glass. Each bead is her own creation. Meet the artist at this special shopping event! A large selection of her hand-crafted items will be available for sale. The East End Arts Gallery is located at 133 E. Main Street in Riverhead. For more information about the artist and this program, visit the event webpage.
Marjorie Oxman has been making artisan glass jewelry in her studio in Remsenburg since 2005. Using a technique called “lampworking”, she melts rods of colored glass with an oxygen/propane torch around a steel rod to form a bead. She then uses sterling silver as well as other fine materials to create her one of a kind pieces. Marjorie has a BFA in Communications Design from Parson’s School of Design. When not making jewelry she works as a teacher’s aide with special needs children. She lives with her husband of 22 years, teenage twin boys and 21 pound cat! For more information about her background and inspiration, visit the artist’s event page.
This event will be held in the East End Arts Gallery, which will be exhibiting Novel Materials / New Techniques, an all media art show juried by Margery Gosnell-Qua, Artist & Curator, Lyceum Gallery, Suffolk County Community College Eastern Campus.
