Albert James Franke of Southold died at his home on June 6, 2015. He was 76 years old.

He was born on December 21, 1938 in Brooklyn to Marguerite (nee Maguire) and Albert J. Franke. He and his family summered on Long Island until moving here permanently around 1947.

Franke attended Southold High School and in 1961 married Frances S. Brooks in Riverhead.

For thirty-seven year years, he enjoyed a career as a Lab Technician with the USDA on Plum Island.

In his free time, he was a long-time member of the Mattituck Gun Club and enjoyed salt water fly fishing, mycology, smoking fish and cooking.

He is survived by his wife Frances S. Franke; three sons: James, Michael (Christine) and Glen (Jill) all of Southold; seven grandchildren: Steven, David, Jennifer, Daniel, Miranda, Jonna and Peter and three great-grandchildren: Aric, James and Cecily. He was predeceased by two brothers: Edward and Thomas.

Graveside services were held on June 13, 2015 at the East Marion Cemetery with Pastor Thomas MacLeod officiating.
