The Riverhead man accused of tossing a molotov cocktail at his neighbor’s house June 14 has been indicted on felony weapons possession and attempted arson charges and is being held in lieu of $250,000 cash bail.

Monwell Wright, 21, filled an iced tea bottle with gasoline, lit it and threw it at his neighbor’s house at 24 Sigal Avenue on Saturday night, June 13, according to prosecutors. The bottle hit the house, bounced off the vinyl siding, landed on the ground and exploded, according to the indictment.

Police identified and arrested Wright, who lives at 23 Sigal Avenue, later that night.

Wright has a record that includes prior arrests on charges of an assortment of violent crimes in Riverhead, including robberies, assaults and menacing.

A grand jury indicted him on June 22 on charges of attempted arson in the second degree, a Class C felony and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony.

Wright, represented by the Legal Aid Society, was arraigned before Judge Willliam Condon in Suffolk County Criminal Court today. Condon set bail at $250,000. Wright was remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility. His next court date is July 21.
