Carl Pendzick of Calverton died at home on June 24, 2015. He was 98 years old.

Carl was born January 20, 1917 in Riverhead to Nastazy and Bronizlawa Pendzick. Carl was a farmer with his brother, Isadore, in Calverton. After years of farming, the two brothers went into construction and built houses.

Carl was a marksman and a deputy sheriff during World War II. An avid gardener, he kept the family supplied with fresh vegetables every year.

While Carl remained single, he had a large extended family during his life of four sisters, three brothers and 24 nieces and nephews. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Isidore’s Roman Catholic Church.

The family received visitors Friday, June 26 at McLaughlin-Heppner Funeral Home in Riverehad. A funeral service was held at St. Isidore’s Roman Catholic Church in Riverhead on Saturday, June 27. Interment took place at St. Isidore’s Cemetery.
