(Updated: 12:30 p.m.) A 67-year-old Peconic woman suffered a leg injury in a three-car accident that closed Sound Avenue east of Herricks Lane this morning at about 11:40 a.m.

Jamesport firefighters were called to  extricate the woman from an overturned minivan in the roadway. She was taken by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Stony Brook University Hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening police said.

The woman, identified by police as Susan Hallock, was driving a Dodge Grand Caravan eastbound on Sound Avenue and rear-ended an  eastbound BMW, then left the roadway and overturned, according to police. The BMW in turn rear-ended an eastbound Honda Ridgeline.

Traffic was diverted down Manor Lane and Aldrich Lanes as police and emergency workers cleared the scene.
