An 82-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a single-car accident on Osborn Avenue this morning. She apparently lost consciousness behind the wheel due to a medical condition, according to police. Her car traveled over a median at the traffic circle, hit a road sign and then a utility pole, police said.
The woman told police she does not remember what happened. The accident happened at about 8:30 a.m.
She was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
