Location of the park where a group of teens assaulted and robbed two other teens last night, according to Riverhead police.

Riverhead Police are investigating the assault and robbery of a 14-year-old boy on a Riverhead playground Friday afternoon.

The boy was in Unity Park, a neighborhood park maintained by the Rivehead Town recreation department at the end of North Oakland Drive in Riverhead Friday at about 4:30 p.m. when he was punched in the face by the assailant, who removed $70 cash from him and fled the area.

The victim was treated for his injury at Peconic Bay Medical Center and released, police said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and they ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call the Riverhead Police Department at (631)727-4500.
