Riverhead Police report the arrest of a 23-year-old Riverhead Main on an assault charge following a fight at an East Main Street bar early Saturday morning.

Police responded to a report of a disturbance at the Royal Dorado Bar at 1005 East Main Street just after 1 a.m. this morning. Police said Diego Abrego, a patron at the, threw a beer bottle that struck another man in the face. The victim, age 27, was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of a cut on the top of his head, police said.

Abrego was arrested and charged with assault in the second degree, according to a police press release. He was held for morning arraignment in Riverhead Justice Court.

The bar was the scene of a stabbing in May 2014 and has been the subject of neighboring residents’ complaints about noise and patrons urinating outside the building.
