Eleanor Maher of Riverhead died July 24, 2015 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 89 years old.
Born in Newark, New Jersey on April 26, 1926, she was the daughter of Herman and Bertha Stone.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Maher, a homemaker and the mother of three. She enjoyed game shows and crossword puzzles.
Predeceased by her husband and her son Kevin, she is survived by her daughters Diane Murdough and Donna Bambrick, both of Riverhead, and by her sister Barbara Bereis of Smithtown. She is also survived by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, July 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 29 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Isidore’s R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the ASPCA.
