A two-car accident this morning on Edwards Avenue trapped one driver in his car, requiring heavy rescue to cut open the car door and extract him.

Emergency responders were called to the scene of an accident around 9:15 a.m. on Edwards Avenue near the Long Island Expressway eastbound exit.

Two people were injured, including the driver of the Honda Civic, who had to be cut from his car with the “Jaws of Life” by Riverhead firefighters, according to police.
