Two teenagers were shot on a Riverhead street last night, according to Riverhead Town Police.

An 18-year-old female and a 19-year-old male were both taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with gunshot wounds in their upper arms, police said. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, according to police.

Police responded at about 10:30 last night to a 911 call reporting the shootings at the corner of Grove Street and South Oakland Drive, according to a police press release. Upon arrival they found the two shooting victims, who reported that an unknown male pointed a handgun at them and fired several shots, police said. The shooter then fled the area on foot. No further information about the incident was provided by police.

Riverhead Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who has information about it to call the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500 ext. 302.
