There’s a lot going on this week in Riverhead, from a major music festival and a celebration of the arts downtown to government meetings and hearings.
Events this week
Nile Rodgers’ FOLD festival takes place at Martha Clara Vineyards on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 to 11 p.m. It is expected to draw thousands of people to see acts including Beck, Pharrell Williams, Keith Urban, Duran Duran and more.
National Night Out, sponsored locally by the Riverhead Police Department as part of a national crime prevention program, takes place Tuesday. Residents are encouraged to keep their outdoor lights on and gather outdoors.
If you love classic autos, the Peconic Riverfront is the place to be every Thursday in summertime. The lineup of gleaming and gorgeous oldies starts around 5 p.m. along Heidi Behr Way.
Celebrate the arts in downtown Riverhead Friday with JumpstART, with art exhibits, poetry, story telling, music and more.
The North Fork Craft Beer Festival takes place on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the former Calverton Links site on Edwards Avenue
Riverhead Rocks Triathlon begins at 6:40 a.m. on Sunday at the Peconic Riverfront, where competitors will jump in the river for a 1.5K swim, then jump on their bikes for a 40K ride through town, and finish it off with a 10K run.

Public meetings & hearings this week
The Riverhead Industrial Development Agency will hold a public hearing today at 5 p.m. at Riverhead Town Hall on the application of Wolf Properties and Long Beard Brewing Co. for partial property tax abatements and sales and compensating use tax exemptions in connection with the renovation of the former Second Street firehouse. Long Beard plans to open a brewery and tasting room there. No published meeting agenda is yet available.
Riverhead Town Board will hold its regular monthly meeting tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Town Hall. Among the items on the agenda:
- a public hearing on a proposal to install stop signs on Twomey Avenue at the intersection with Riley and Youngs Avenue. The addition of stop signs would make this a four-way stop intersection. No published meeting agenda is yet available.
- a public hearing on a proposal to install a stop sign on Manor Road at the intersection with Middle Road.
- a public hearing on a proposed zoning code change aimed at improving the appearance of vacant storefronts on Main Street by regulating signs.
The town board will meet for its regular Thursday morning work session Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. The meeting agenda has not yet been published.
The Riverhead Planning Board meets on Thursday at 7 p.m. No published meeting agenda is yet available.
The commissioners of the Riverhead and Jamesport fire districts also meet on Wednesday at their respective headquarters. Riverhead Fire District meeting is at 6 p.m. The commissioners do not publish their meeting agendas in advance of their meetings.

The Conservation Advisory Council meets on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The CAC advises the town board and the planning board on matters of environmental concern. No published agenda for this meeting is available.
The Riverhead Farmland Preservation Committee meets on Wednesday at Town Hall at 7 p.m. This committee oversees the use of preserved farmland in the Town of Riverhead. The committee does not publish an agenda for its meetings.
The Alternative Transportation Committee meets on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Town Hall. No published agenda for this meeting is available.
