(Updated: 5 pm.) Firefighters are battling a blaze at an Aquebogue home this afternoon.

Riverhead Fire Department found the Church Lane house fully engulfed in flames when they answered the alarm at about 3:35 p.m.

A woman at the house, the daughter of the owners, told police she left the house to go to the barn at the back of the property. When she returned five minutes later, the house was full of smoke, she told police. She grabbed her phone, ran out of the house and called 911, Det. Sgt. Sean Egan said. The woman told police there were three cats inside the house; the animals have not yet been located, Egan said.

Rapid Intervention Teams from Jamesport and Flanders fire departments and additional manpower from Mattituck Fire Department were called in for mutual aid. Wading River Fire Department is standing by at Riverhead FD headquarters.

Firefighters got the fire knocked down quickly.

Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance and Flanders Northampton Community Ambulance also responded. There were been no reported injuries.

An online donations page has been set up for the family of the house.
