Everybody’s Polish this weekend in Riverhead, home of Polish Town USA and the Polish Street Fair and Polka Festival, which kicks off at 10 a.m. today and continues through 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Now in its 41st year, the largest Polish festival this side of Warsaw transforms Riverhead’s Polish Town into a giant open-air market, with vendors, Polish delicacies, Polish beer, Polka music, Polish dancers, carnival rides and games and plenty of fun for the whole family.

2012 0817 polish pre wedding partyThe festival begins with a Polish Mass at St. Isidore’s Church on Pulaski Street. There will be a re-enactment of a traditional Polish wedding on the steps of the church afterwards, and a parade through Polish Town led by this year’s Miss Polish Town USA, Claudia Zacharewicz, of Jamesport.

The street fair runs today and tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The annual Polka Dance Festival in Poloniase Park, under the pavilion at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Osborn Avenue, features The John Gora Band and Mike Costa and the Beat. Admission is $13/adults, $8/children under 12.
