Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent F. DeMarco will be hosting the annual Sheriff’s Open House and Family Day on Sunday, September 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office is the oldest continuous law enforcement agency in the county, with more than 330 years of service on Long Island. The free event will highlight its unique role in law enforcement, as well as the work of the County’s Deputy Sheriffs and Correction Officers.

The event will feature exhibits, tours and demonstrations that will appeal to people of all ages, such as K-9 demonstrations, jail tours (for ages 12 and up), Amber Alert Child ID Cards, a bike rodeo and obstacle course, exciting Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team demonstrations, Senior Medical ID Cards, balloon art, McGruff the Crime Dog, giveaways for kids, face painting and much more.

When: Sunday, September 20th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Rain or Shine.

Where: The parking lot of the Riverhead Correctional Facility on Rt. 24/Nugent Drive in Riverhead.

Directions: The entrance to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility is on Rt. 24 in Riverhead.  From the LIE: travel eastbound to exit 71. Make a right at the stop sign onto Rt. 24 and go approximately four miles. The correctional facility will be on the right. From Sunrise Highway: Travel eastbound to exit 61. Follow the signs to County Rd 51- Riverhead.  Go approximately six miles and past the county complex. Make a left onto Rt. 24.  Go approximately 1/8 mile and look for the Correctional Facility on the left.
