A taxi driver was robbed by in Calverton last night, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Police said a Riverhead Town Taxi driver reported being robbed by an unknown male at the corner of River Road and Edwards Avenue last night at 9:53 p.m. The robber, described only as “an unknown Hispanic male,” took “an amount of U.S. currency and fled the area on foot,” police said in a press release. Police did not say whether the robber displayed a weapon or whether he was a passenger in the cab.
The taxi driver, a 24-year-old Flanders man was uninjured.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call the police department at 631-727-4500.
