Six Riverhead High School students have been selected for the All-State Music Festival to be held in Rochester in December.

David White, bass, and Aidan Saltini, cello, have been selected for the all-state symphony orchestra. William Pasciutti, tenor, and Ella Baldwin, soprano, will perform with the all-state chorus (mixed chorus and women’s chorus, respectively; and Dillon Wiggins, flute and Danny Jones, trumpet, have been selected as alternates in the all-state band.

Additionally, seven high school students have been chosen for the All-County Music Festival: Lauren Schmitt, trumpet; Danny Jones, trumpet; Shannon McAlister, clarinet; Dillon Wiggins, flute; Peter Cook, trombone; Cesar Flores, trombone; Nick Waldron, tuba.

Thousands of students auditioned for this honor last spring at solo and ensemble festivals throughout New York. To qualify to attend the festivals, students must have received a perfect (or nearly perfect) score on their solos at the New York State School Music Association solo competition. The festivals also serve as audition sites for the All-State bands, choruses and orchestras for students in grades 10 and 11 who elect, in advance, to perform their level VI solo for an all-state adjudicator.
