Riverhead High School senior Peter Cook, trombonist, will perform with the All-National Symphonic Band at a national music festival in Nashville, Tennessee next month.

Peter is one of 100 high school students from across the country selected for the festival. Musicians were selected based on solo performance scores in statwide music auditions and their individual audition tapes.

The festival, which takes place Oct. 25 through 28, concludes with a performance on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. The symphonic band will be conducted by Eugene Corporon, conductor of the Wind Symphony and a regents professor of music at the University of North Texas.

Peter, a member of the All-State Symphony Orchestra in 2014, plans to study physics and engineering in college.

He is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Foreign Language Honor Society and was captain of the advanced Latin certamen team last year.
