John P. Sullivan of Cutchogue died on September 22, 2015. He was 89 years old.

He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 1, 1930 to Daniel and Mary (nee Toomey) Sullivan and received a BA in Business Administration.

For many years, he served as Administrator for the Navy PX Exchange. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served as Commander of American Legion Post #803 in Southold.

John was a devout Catholic and a generous contributor to his church and many other charities.

He enjoyed golf, traveling with his wife Arlene to Europe and Florida in the winters and dining out with John and Rose Berryman of Southold.

John was also comfortable in the kitchen where he cooked and prepared gourmet meals daily. Everyone enjoyed his baked clams served at his annual “Trim the Tree” party.

He is survived by his wife Arlene Sullivan and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Friends were welcomed on September 25 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck where the American Legion held services and Deacon Jeff Sykes conducted prayer services. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on September 26 at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church by Monsignor Joseph W. Staudt. Interment at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery.
