John Walter Doroski of Aquebogue died on September 27, 2015. He was 93 years old.

The son of Frank and Justina (Ruskowski) Doroski, he was born on June 10, 1922. He married his beloved Mary (Simchick) on June 15, 1947.

2015_0929_doroskiHe was a farmer, self-employed businessman and employee of the Long Island Cauliflower Association, where he was quoted by The New York Times as “The Seed Man.” He belonged to the Holy Name Society and the St. Isidore’s Society. Family members say he loved God, his family, and farming.

Mr. Doroski was predeceased by his wife, Mary. He is survived by his children, Diane Bell, Bernadette Jermusyk, John Doroski, Dr. Gregory Doroski, Mary Coen, and Michael Doroski, his siblings Hedwig Kozak, Bertha Wilcenski, Konrad Doroski, Irene Zlatinski, and Albenia Sujecki, as well as his 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, October 1 at McLaughlin-Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service is set for 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 2 at St. Isidore’s Roman Catholic Church in Riverhead.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mattituck Presbyterian Church Haiti Dental Fund, St. Isidore’s Church and East End Hospice.
