Three men are facing attempted grand larceny and other charges after attempting to buy a pickup truck at a Riverhead auto dealership using fraudulent identification, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police were called to Riverhead Ford shortly after 3 p.m. Friday on a report of two men attempting to purchase a 2014 Ford F-150 Raptor pickup truck for $60,500 using fraudulent ID, according to a police press release. The two men attempted to flee when police arrived but were apprehended in a nearby parking lot, police said. An investigation by Riverhead detectives led to the arrest of both men as well as of a third man who was waiting in a nearby vehicle.

Michael M. Grayson, 51, of the Bronx, was charged with attempted grand larceny in the second degree, three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree and identity theft in the first degree.

Shaun F. Shuffler, 30, of Queens, was charged with attempted grand larceny in the second degree. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from the State of New Jersey on a third-degree forgery charge, police said.

Tameek White, 21, of Mount Vernon, was charged with attempted grand larceny in the second degree.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
