Work to repave a 3.2 mile-stretch of Route 25A between Wading River Manor Road and Route 25 in Wading River is set to begin this week, weather permitting, according to a spokesperson for the N.Y. State Department of Transportation said.
The roadway suffered extensive damage over the last two winters, DOT spokesperson Eileen Peters said.
Road and drainage repairs will be performed during off-peak daytime hours and repaving will be performed at night, Peters said.
The top layer of distressed pavement will be removed, and then replaced with new asphalt. Any traffic signal loops will be replaced and fresh pavement markings including more visible pedestrian crosswalks will be provided.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of this year, weather permitting, Peters said.
The cost for repaving this section of Route 25A is about $2.6 million and work is expected to begin during off-peak daytime hours.
