The Town of Southampton Shred-It Day will take place on Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Red Creek Park in Hampton Bays. There is a rain date of Nov. 14.

The Town of Southampton is offering paper shredding services for residents to have their confidential documents destroyed on site at no cost. Residents can bring up to four file-sized (10″x12″x15″) boxes of confidential personal papers per household for shredding. Papers from businesses, institutions or commercial enterprises will not be accepted, nor will junk mail or newspapers.

This service is provided to residents of Southampton Town only and is on a first-come-first-served basis, as the Mobile Shredder unit can reach its maximum capacity before closing.

Residents are warned not to place any matches, lighters or anything combustible in the paper to be shredded. Staff will be checking the material prior to being shredded.

The kind of documents that will be accepted include documents that are no longer in use and contain personal identifying information such as name, address, phone number, credit card number or social security number. Such documents should be shredded before they are thrown out for recycling.

For additional information please call 631-287-5750 or Councilman Brad Bender at 631-287-5745.
