A 68-year-old woman was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital tonight after her vehicle hit a parked SUV inside a Calverton townhouse complex and overturned at around 7 p.m.

The driver of the overturned vehicle, a Buick Regal sedan, was trapped inside. Riverhead Fire Department heavy rescue was called to extricate the victim. Firefighters used the “Jaws of Life” to cut the roof off the vehicle, which was resting on its side.

The driver’s injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.

The accident happened on Golden Spruce Drive, directly in front of the recreation center inside the Windcrest East townhouse complex off Middle Road. The parked Honda SUV hit by the Buick was not occupied
