A stabbing at the Green View Inn on West Main Street sent one person to Peconic Bay Medical Center this afternoon with two stab wounds, according to police radio reports.

The suspect fled on foot and remains at large, according to radio reports. Police are currently conducting a search of the area.

The incident occurred just before 3:30 p.m. this afternoon. The circumstances of the stabbing were not immediately clear.

A witness described the suspect as a 5 foot 11 inch black man in his early 20s wearing a baseball cap that was either red or partially red in color, and either pants with red trim or red sneakers, according to radio reports.

Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the victim to Peconic Bay Medical Center with injuries described as “not critical” by a police officer on the scene.
