The area of the Nov. 10 home invasion.

Southampton Town Police detectives report the arrests of two men Monday in the Nov. 10 home invasion on Flanders Road in the area of Woodroad Trail.

Charles M. Schruggs, 27, and Roy Jones Jr. have been charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and fourth-degree conspiracy, police said.

Jones, who fought with police officers when they attempted to arrest him in the parking lot of the UA Theater in Hampton Bays, fled from police in a vehicle and caused a crash on Springville Road that seriously injured a 23-year-old Hampton Bays woman, according to the police report. Jones then fled the scene of the crash on foot, police said. Officers caught Jones a few blocks away and he fought with them again, injuring one officer, who required hospital treatment, police said. Jones, who sustained injuries in the crash, was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was arraigned on charges related to the home invasion as well as charges of assault on a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident w serious physical injury, unlawfully fleeing a police officer,  aggravated unlicensed operation, driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration.

Police on Nov. 10 said three men, brandishing a box cutter, silver handgun and shotgun, forcibly entered a residence on Flanders Road at 1:10 that morning.

Police said last week that the victim described the subjects as three African American males. One subject was wearing a red hoodie and was approximately 6 ft. 3 in. tall. The other two males were shorter in stature wearing black hoodies. All subjects concealed their faces at the time of the incident, according to the police report. The trio took over $1,000 from the residence without harming the homeowner, police said.

Southampton police received a call at approximately 1:12 a.m. from a second residence on Albany Avenue in Flanders, where the homeowner reported three men matching the same description attempted to gain entry to his residence by kicking in the door. The attempt failed and they left without further incident.

Detectives said they believed the Albany Avenue attempt occurred prior to the Flanders Avenue incident.
