An open letter to the residents of Flanders, Riverside and Northampton:

As you may know, there is a very important meeting Tuesday night at the Southampton Town Hall, where a group of concerned residents will demand action from town officials in reference to the lack of police presence and prolonged response time in our area. It is extremely dangerous, for not only ourselves, our family, the community but also for the police officers that are patrolling this area. Recently we’ve seen a rash of car break-ins, the home invasions and the latest, a driveby shooting that left one young man dead, all in our very own backyards. Enough is enough.

We need to stand together and demand more police patrols and a permanent sector car or two that do not leave this area. We are hearing reports of 20-60 minutes response times from a 911 call. This is unacceptable.

It is extremely important that we have community support at Tuesday evening’s meeting, and that people are willing to speak, before we see another life lost.

Spread the word to your neighbors. If someone needs a ride, I’m sure it can be arranged.

It is time to take our neighborhood back.
