A group of local gymnasts came home from an international competition in Bermuda last weekend with plenty of bling.
Seven gymnasts from GymNation in Riverhead competed in the International Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs’ 5th International Gymnastics Challenge hosted by the Bermuda Gymnastics Association.
GymNation’s gold level team placed third in its division, said GymNation owner Bonnie Tellez.
Highlights of the athletes’ achievements:
Jordan Osler (age 14) gold level- 4th on vault, 4th on floor, 4th all-around, 3rd uneven bars, 4th all-around, gold level in her age division.
Katelyn Stotzky (age 15) gold level- 3rd all around, 2nd on floor, 3rd on vault, 3rd on beam.

Six countries participate in the International Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs: USA, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, United Kingdom and South Africa.
“We take them to these competitions for several reasons,” Tellez said, including the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of another country.” Four gymnasts from the Riverhead club went to the international competition in South Africa last year.
The season culminates in the world championship scheduled for late June in Orlando, Florida.
GymNation was established in Riverhead about 19 years ago, Tellez said. It moved to its current location on Pulaski Street and Columbus Avenue four years ago. Its facilities feature a 2,500-square-foot foam pit and inground trampolines.
GymNation hosts classes in gymnastics training, speed and agility classes, ninja obstacle training, cheerleading, trampoline and tumbling. It also offers private lessons.
