More than 1,000 people burned off some calories before sitting down to holiday dinner yesterday in the 10th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot in Mattituck.

Eighteen-year-old Everest Crawford of Glouster, Massachusetts finished first overall with a time of 15:53.5.

Suzy Heffernan, 45, of Cutchogue, was the first female finisher, crossing the finish line at 19:17.2.

The popular 5K run/walk is sponsored by the Mattituck-Cutchogue Teachers’ Association and raises funds to support the MCTA senior scholarship and charitable causes. This year, proceeds will go to the Brendan House, a group home under construction in Riverhead for people with brain injuries, and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Kids as young as 4 trotted alongside octogenarians on the course that started and ended at Mattituck High School and took runners in a loop south of Main Road onto New Suffolk Avenue and Marratooka Road, and then along Main Road between Marratooka Lane and Maple Avenue.

Runners donned all manner of turkey headgear and at least one wore a turkey costume.

Timekeeping services were provided by Just-In-Time Racing. Full results are found on the company’s website. Top finishers are listed below.
