Riverhead shoppers will have more than one opportunity for big bargains this holiday season. While Black Friday may bring in the deals today at the big-name chain stores, local residents will have another shot to save on local holiday gifts on Nov. 28 during Small Business Saturday.

A national campaign launched by American Express five years ago, Small Business Saturday puts the emphasis on the mom and pop stores that the East End is famous for. Last year nationwide, 88 million consumers participated in the deal-filled day and spent $14.3 billion, according to a survey conducted by the National Federation of Independent Business. More than 50 percent of Americans are aware of Small Business Saturday, a number that has grown each year since its inception.

Here are some of the deals going down in Riverhead this year:

  • East End Arts Holiday Boutique will sell holiday gifts, all made by local artists.
  • Lyrical Children will offer a $15 discount on winter semester registrations Nov. 23 through Nov. 28. It will also offer $75 off party bookings.
  • The Blue Duck Bakery will offer $2 off a $10+ purchase and $5 off a $25+ purchase.
  • Pro Vision will offer up to 35 percent off purchases, a pet-food drive and a special guest appearance.
  • SERVPRO will offer $100 off a general residential cleaning from Nov. 28 through Dec. 31.
  • At Lighthouse Marine Supply, a $10 gift card comes with a $100 purchase.
  • Talmage Farm Agway is offering 20 percent off Husqvarna power equipment.
  • Save 15 percent on Moustache Brewing Co. merchandise on their website, through Nov. 30 (use promo code SHOPSMALL)

And be sure to stop by the Riverhead Farmer’s Market on Saturday, open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., for holiday gifts made by local farmers and artisans.
