(Update – 8 p.m.) Police have charged a Riverhead teen with third-degree burglary in connection with the break-in at an East Main Street convenience store Saturday night.
Police observed the suspect on surveillance video breaking the glass on the front door of Mi Casa de Envios Y Multiservicios, entering the shop and stealing six cell phones, according to a press release issued tonight.
A subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of Malik Rose, 18, of 724 E. Main St. Rose lives in an apartment building directly across from the shopping plaza where the convenience store is located.
Rose was processed at the Riverhead Police Department on the burglary charge and and held pending arraignment, police said.

Riverhead Town Police are investigating a break-in at an East Main Street convenience store this morning.
The glass front door of Mi Casa de Envios Y Multiservicios, located at 703 E. Main St., was smashed in some time overnight, according to police.
Police were on scene investigating the incident this morning and could not provide immediate information about what, if anything, had been removed from the store by the intruder(s).
The store is located in the Riverhead Commons shopping plaza, the same center as another convenience store that was burglarized and robbed in two separate incidents earlier this month. Employees at Damaris Multi- Service, at 725 East Main St. were robbed at gunpoint on the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 1 and a similar break-in took place there early in the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 18.
On Nov. 2, police charged Ishmael Norris, 24, described by police as homeless, with gunpoint holdup a day earlier.
