East End Arts is pleased to announce the latest installment in their Artisan Showcase Series, taking place on Saturday, March 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring jewelry marker Mary Anne Huntington of Cutchogue, NY. Mary Anne will demonstrate the process of creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of hand-crafted silver jewelry. For this demonstration, she will use molds as well as natural materials and objects to create several pieces of jewelry, and will show each step of the process using hand tools and a micro-torch. East End Arts encourages the public to stop by between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to observe the demonstration, meet the artist and see her at work as she creates her art in the East End Arts Gallery for one day only. Mary Anne’s unique jewelry will be available for sale at the event. The East End Arts Gallery is located at 133 E. Main Street in Riverhead, NY. Mary Anne Huntington comments on her art: “Creativity has been my avocation most of my life. Ten years ago I was introduced to crafting silver clay jewelry, a kiln-fired fine silver medium. I continue to build on professional classes by exploring and developing mastery of jewelry making on my own. Much of my work is manifestations of textures found in nature and skeuomorphs of found objects. My work has been in the Winter Harbor Gallery (Greenport), East End Arts (Riverhead), The Old Town Arts and Crafts Guild (Cutchogue), Lyceum Gallery (SCCC) and select retail shops. I was featured as “Artist of the Week” on the WLIW Ticket show in 2005, and in 2009, participated in the Abiqiui Studio Tour (New Mexico) at the Raven in the Sun Gallery. I have taught metal clay and bead and wire jewelry crafting locally and in my home. Lately, I have been working with copper, a metal that has long-held my interest, and am exploring new ways of using it in jewelry.”

Future events in the Artisan Showcase Series will be held on Saturday, May 24 featuring one-stroke painter Jo Packard; Saturday, June 21 featuring felt artist Justine Moody; and Saturday, July 5 featuring batik egg decorating artist Hannah Ritter. The upcoming show in the East End Arts Gallery is the Shadow Show, an all media art show juried by international artist Ivan Kustura. This show will open with a reception on Friday, March 14 from 5 PM to 7 PM (this event is open to the public and admission is always free), and will be up for viewing until April 18, 2014. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM and the public is always welcome.
