The Riverhead High School NJROTC unit will be holding their annual Chinese Auction unit fundraiser Saturday, April 5.

The Chinese Auction is the unit’s primary fundraising event, which ensures the cadets focus their efforts on academics, team building skills and unit leadership endeavors. Funds raised are used to purchase new equipment and ensure the award winning drill team are able to attend regional meets. Other unit expenses include cadets taking part in exciting once in a life time training opportunities such as visiting Marine and Naval bases and flying with the 106th Rescue Wing on their cargo planes.

“Since 1974,” unit SNSI Lt. Col. McCarthy notes, “the NJROTC program at Riverhead High School has been transforming the young men and women of our community into responsible citizens. The unit provides leadership development, self-discipline, physical fitness, team work and community service. Our cadets participate in hundreds of hours of community service each year.”

For individuals and businesses that wish to support the Riverhead NJROTC unit, donations can be made to the auction by contacting Dawn Schneider at 631-219-1611, Dana Hubbard at 631-902-6284 or Mimi Corwin at mimi@corwincorner.com or mailing gift certificates to:
