
Police are looking for the person who threw a chunk of brick or concrete at a moving car in Riverside, shattering its windshield and injuring a passenger.
The incident occurred on Sunday, June 3 at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Lake Avenue (County Road 63) in Riverside.
A young white male with short blond hair leaned out of a southbound SUV and hurled a chunk of concrete or brick at a vehicle passing in the opposite direction, according to police.
The concrete shattered the windshield of the passing car, a 2011 Toyota Camry heading northbound on CR 63, injuring the female passenger sitting in the front seat, police said. She was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of injuries caused by shattered glass, police said.
The SUV was described by police only as an older model green or black SUV.
Police did not identify or provide any further information about the injured passenger.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have been driving through this area when this incident occurred, witnessed the incident, or has any information on the vehicle or persons involved to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
