Cops: Heroin dealer arrested in Flanders after East End Drug Task Force investigation

A Flanders man was arrested on felony and misdemeanor drug charges following an investigation by the East End Drug Task Force into heroin sales, according to Southampton Town Police.

John Henry Ward, 51, was arrested and faces charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor, police said.

A prior felony offender, Ward is currently on parole for narcotic sales, police said,

The Southampton Town Police emergency services unit and Southampton Town patrol officers executed a search warrant at 736 Flanders Road during the early hours of Friday, July 27, police said.

The search resulted in the recovery of a quantity of heroin packaged for sale, prescription pills possessed with the intent to sell and a quantity of cash.

The raid was the culmination of a prolonged investigation into the sale of heroin by the East End Drug Task Force, according to a police report.

Ward was processed at Southampton Town Police headquarters and arraigned at Southampton Town Justice Court Friday, police said. Two other people were detained during the execution of the warrant. They were subsequently released without charges.

Police did not provide information about the bail status of the defendant.
