A tractor-trailer attempting to back into the driveway of a moving and storage company on Sound Avenue was rear-ended by a Toyota sedan, injuring the driver of the sedan, according to Riverhead police.

The accident occurred at about 9:15 a.m. when the tractor-trailer, in the westbound lane, tried to back into the driveway of Samonas Prime Moving and Storage at 3202 Sound Avenue, police said. A westbound Toyota Corolla rammed the back of the truck, causing extensive front-end damage to the Toyota and injuring its female driver.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Sound Avenue was briefly closed between Horton and Roanoke avenue.
