A motor vehicle accident on Route 25 involving a box truck and an SUV sent three people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon with non-lifethreatening injuries, according to police.
A man driving a Honda SUV attempted to make a U-turn on Route 25 west of Edgar Avenue when he was broadsided on the driver’s side by a Braun Seafood box truck traveling eastbound, police said.
Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported both drivers to Peconic Bay Medical Center, as well as the female passenger of the Honda, police said. There were no additional passengers in either vehicle.
Route 25 was closed between Edgar Avenue and Union Avenue for about fifteen minutes following the accident.
The accident occurred around 3:15 p.m.
