A motorcyclist traveling on Route 25 in Calverton Friday afternoon escaped injury after nearly colliding with another vehicle.
Police said the motorcyclist, operating a Honda Shadow, was westbound on Route 25 and approaching the intersection of Routes 25 and 25A when he laid the bike down to avoid crashing into the vehicle in front of him.
Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m., to transport the victim to Peconic Bay Medical Center for evaluation purposes, according to police.
Eastbound Route 25 was blocked for a short time while the scene was cleared.
