A woman and child were sent to the hospital this morning after the woman lost control of her minivan and crashed into a utility pole on Shade Tree Lane at about 7:45 a.m.
Both sustained minor injuries in the accident and were transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps for treatment.
A nearby resident said this is the second time “in a couple of months” that a car hit the pole in that location; the utility pole was recently replaced, she said. Police said the pole did not appear to be damaged but one of the utility lines was dislodged by the impact; PSEG was notified to respond.
