One person was injured in a two-car crash in front of Wendy’s on Route 58 this afternoon.

The driver of a westbound Jeep Cherokee attempted to make a left-hand turn into the fast-food restaurant’s parking lot into the path of an oncoming Ford pickup truck, according to police. The collision occurred around 5:15 p.m.

The 19-year-old woman driving the Jeep was taken by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center with injuries police said were not life-threatening. The man driving the pickup refused medical attention. There were no passengers in either vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

No tickets were immediately issued.
