East End Women’s Network announces its “Woman of the Year” for 2014

The East End Women’s Network (EEWN) will be honoring Jill Schroeder as their 2014 “Woman of the Year” during a dinner celebration on Wednesday May 14, 2014 at Giorgio’s in Baiting Hollow.
Since its inception in 1981, EEWN has continued its annual tradition of honoring a local east end woman who has exhibited solid leadership responsibilities, commitment to her goals, and achievements in her professional life as well as personal character and service to her community and her colleagues.

Commenting on the “2014 Woman of the Year” award selection process, EEWN President Jennifer Maertz said “Each year we look to honor a woman who has demonstrated tremendous leadership skills and who serves as an inspiration to other women in our community. It was clear to our selection committee that Jill is most deserving of this honor.” Maertz added “She has inspired countless people to live a healthier lifestyle. As founder, owner and operator of JABS (Joining Active Bodies Studio, Inc.) Jill Schroeder has proven to be a great leader in the community with an unwavering dedication to the people of the east end of Long Island. We are so proud to honor her as our 2014 Woman of the Year.”
At the age of 29, Jill Schroeder was named the Suffolk Times Business Person of the Year 2012. Jill has dedicated significant time to charity work including hosting “Cure for Cammy”, a fundraiser for the national Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She is also a major sponsor for the American Heart Association’s Healing Heart 5k and shortly after the tragic events at the Boston Marathon, Jill hosted the “One Ride-One Fund” cycling fundraiser.

Jill’s success demonstrates that she lives by the same advice she offers others: “If you are going to take any steps in life, make sure they are forward steps.” Seeing people become empowered by an improved lifestyle struck deeply with Jill. She is grateful to have a platform to bring people together for great causes, ideas and collaboration. While working full time, Jill earned dual degrees in biology and psychology at Stony Brook University.
Nicole Alloway, proudly nominated Jill for this award stating “Jill has created a place for people to feel good about themselves, through the community at the gym first, and then second in the community at large.”
The East End Women’s Network was founded in 1981. The purpose of this organization is to bring together women of diverse accomplishment and experience, directing women into policy-making positions through the dissemination and sharing of career opportunities; to educate members and the public on issues affecting women on the East End; and to promote the interests, conditions and positions of women in science, business, industry, labor, government, the arts, education and public service.

1. The Woman of the Year event starts with networking at 5:30 p.m., dinner and award presentation at 6:30 p.m. The pricing for the dinner event is $60 for EEWN members ($75 at the door), $75 for non‐members ($85 at the door). All are welcome.
