The ALDI grocery store in Riverhead is set to open on Friday

ALDI will open its doors in Riverhead Friday morning.

The grocery store chain, located at 1773 Old Country Road, plans a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Jan. 10.

ALDI joins Dick’s Sporting Goods, Christmas Tree Shops and Five Below, which have opened in the new shopping center west of Mill Road since October.

The discount grocery chain operates nearly 1,300 stores in 32 states. ALDI says it offers its own brands for up to 50 percent less than the cost of national brands at traditional supermarkets, “without compromising quality.”

The German retailer pledges a “double guarantee.” If for any reason a customer is not 100 percent satisfied with any product, ALDI will replace the product and refund the customer’s money.

The ALDI store will be open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
